the start of the 75th birthday celebrations

Postby minehead forever » Sat Sep 11, 2010 2:28 pm

to start the celebrations butlins will be using the original butlins logo for next year using the apostrophe after the letter n.
that is a great and fitting way to start.

Is this a rumour or a fact?

Personally I'd prefer it if they used the much better known and certainly much better loved 70s/80s logo. However the original will do quite nicely too I guess.

Just tried to find the article but it doesn't seem to be online. Any chance you could tell me what it said please.

the article wasn't online,it was a small report in the holiday section.

i won't re-write the article but basically it went like this...

the logo change is to honour sir billy butlin in its 75th year, the first camp was built on a turnip field in skegness, and its unlikely that billy butlin would recognise the modern day resorts with hotels, spas and entertainment complexes.
butlins boss richard bates said "we like to think that we've continued sir billys work, offering hard working families breaks to help them rediscover there sparkle on holiday,we hope billy butlin would be proud.

the logo consists of the word butlin's in its 30's style then underneath it says celebrating 75 years then underneath that on a banner the years 1936-2011.

if anyone is able to scan its on page 52 in yesterdays paper

Butlins 75th Celebrations Logo

Postby David M » Thu Sep 16, 2010 2:39 pm

Hi Everyone

As you all know Butlins celebrates its 75th birthday next year. There will be a number of events and festivities happening throughout the year – we’ll make sure you get plenty of notice!

To that end we just wanted to let you know that to honour our founder, we are re-introducing the original logo, although we have of course added the date banner, see attachement.

The thinking behind this is put best by our Managing Director, Richard Bates, “Butlins has an amazing history from its beginnings in 1936 to the 21st century Resort it is today. There’s great affection for the Butlins’ brand with the British public so we thought that re-introducing the original logo was a fitting way to kick off our celebrations”

We would love to hear what you think about our 75th Anniversary logo

David M ^_^

The new (old) logo has now appeared on butlins website. Looks fantastic!

Thanks to whoever it was who decided to reintroduce the original logo. I think it really captures the spirit of Butlin's past, present and future!

just received the new brochure today.thought the glossy insert looking back at butlins 75 years was a nice touch, but thought the main brochure, was sadly lacking in factual information about plans for next year.only mention on entertainment was standard panto,x factor, titan stuff.

I got my new Brochure the other day. I also received something in a gold plastic bag this morning but didn't have time to open it. I'm guessing this is the free book about the company history. Will have a look when I get home in the morning.

I'm disappointed they haven't made any mention of 75th anniversary retro entertainment in the brochure.

Either there's none planned or they're keeping it all a big secret for some reason. I am baffled by this as I would have thought they'd be advertising it very strongly to get the message out and get people booking up!

I've just had a thought.

Next time we're in Treasures looking at Butlin's souvinirs, how will we know which items are "retro" and which are "modern"?

LOL! Nice problem to have! :D

Just called home to empty the dog and had a quick look through the 75th book. I noticed they are issuing a set of 75th badges.
